MVP Group's Vaccines Reach LGUs, Communities

The MVP Group of Companies, thru the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF), recently delivered 2,500 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines to the local government unit (LGU) of General Santos City, one of the first LGUs to receive vaccine allocations from the MVP Group.

Consistent with the MVP Group’s core value of malasakit, its vaccine allocations for various LGUs aim to help increase people’s protection against the dreaded COVID-19 virus as it supports the government’s efforts to fast-track the inoculation program and attain inclusive recovery.

Other recipients of AstraZeneca vaccines from the MVP Group include the LGUs of Davao, Bacolod, and Malabon and Navotas in Metro Manila.

GenSan City Mayor Ronnel Rivera was present during the delivery of the vaccines at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Inc. (SEHI). He said the vaccines will benefit GenSan residents who are essential workers/economic frontliners and those working in the most vulnerable sectors.

“We are happy to team-up with GenSan’s LGU in its vaccination program by allocating some doses for their residents,” said PSF President Ma. Esther Santos, adding that, “We hope to encourage more people to get vaccinated the soonest time possible, so we can all begin to eagerly look forward to life in the new normal.”

The vaccines were delivered to GenSan in coordination with Zuellig Pharma. They are stored at the SEHI, whose medical staff will administer the inoculation program. SEHI is one of the hospitals under the MVP Group.

According to Chairman Manuel V Pangilinan, “Our vaccinees, through the essential services we offer groupwide – from hospitals, telecommunications and digital services, electricity, water, tollways and road infrastructure, media, and more – have been and will continue to be the key source of stability as the Philippines emerges from this global crisis.”

The MVP Group’s vaccine allocations are aligned with its commitment to attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), particularly SDG #3: Good Health and Well-Being.
